Awana

Currently on Summer Break.  Awana will resume on September 12th at 5:00pm

What is Awana?
  • Awana helps churches and parents raise children to know, love, and serve Jesus Christ!  Currently over a million children and youth attend Awana programs each week in over 18,000 churches worldwide.
When does Awana meet?
  • On Sunday evenings from 5:30-7:15pm
  • Families are invited to attend the Potluck Supper in the Dining Room at5:00pm each week.
  • Students in 7th-12th Grade and Adults can also participate in learning opportunities following dinner, or help out with one of the Awana Clubs.
  • Awana Registration will  continue throughout the 2010-2011 school year.
How much does Awana cost
  • Scholarship assistance is available by contacting Abbi Rosen at 849-1805
  • A $35 registration fee is collected each club year (September-March) that covers the cost of all books, supplies, snacks, uniforms, and awards.
  • We do offer a multi-child discount for families of 3 or more attending Awana (3+ child rate = $30 per child).
Who can participate in Awana?
  • Any child 30 months old through 6th Grade
  • You do not have to be a member of Fishers United Methodist Church to attend. Please invite your friends and neighbors to join you at Awana.

How are the clubs divided?
  • We offer four different Awana Clubs (Puggles, Cubbies, Sparks, and T&T) each Sunday night divided by age or grade level. See below for more information on each group.

For Children 30 months old through age 3 (who will turn 4 after January 1, 2010)

The Puggles (a common name for a baby platypus) is the early childhood Awana program that focuses on two basic biblical concepts:
  • We are a unique creation of God.
  • And God loves us very much.
Awana Puggles teaches toddlers simple lessons through teaching cards, activities, music and more. Following the meeting, parents—an Awana Puggle’s first and best teacher—can step in to reinforce the lessons with take-home cards that include ideas to point out God’s work each day. And little details like Awana Puggles T-shirts, puzzles and coloring books make every precious child feel like part of the group.

For Children age 3 (who will turn 4 before January 1, 2010) through age 5 (who do not yet attend Kindergarten)

The Cubbies preschool program uses games, puppets, crafts, stories, awards, and other activities to create a lively weekly experience where fun and learning go hand in hand.

For Children in Grades K-2

The Sparks provides younger elementary children with a good biblical foundation for their growing faith in Jesus Christ. Sparks Club meetings are divided into three segments:
  • Bible teaching, award presentations, and the gospel message.
  • Small group interaction and completion of Bible-based lessons.
  • Age-appropriate games on the Awana game circle.
With an increased emphasis on Scripture memory, in three years a child will learn and review over 65 Bible verses.

For Children in Grades 3 through 6

The name Truth & Training (T&T) reflects the passion of Awana to teach older elementary boys and girls the truth of God’s Word and to train them to follow Christ in their daily lives. Weekly meetings expose children to the gospel message, Scripture memory, Bible study, awards, team-oriented games and lots of fun.
