We have begun to do the updates to our church library. This will create more usable space while continuing to be a one-stop shop for reference books, studies, and Christian non-fiction materials. We will be setting out books each of the next 4 weeks for Fishers UMC members and guests to take free of charge. The tables will be located in Connection Central. Any books not taken will be donated. Come, let us speak plainly and boldly of the hope that is within us through Christ Jesus our Lord!
Heavenly Father, we are so thankful that the Holy Spirit has been poured out upon your church, as we celebrate and give thanks for this day of Pentecost.
We are so thankful that the power the early church received to share Christ boldly is available to us today. In this time and in this place, we pray that you would grant your people favor as we minister into the lives of people through our work, our schools, and to our neighbors. Where there is lack, may the Spirit provide all that we need to boldly share the love of God through Jesus Christ, because we trust that you can do more then we could ever ask or think. Use us Father through prayer and witness to help further your kingdom here on earth as it is in heaven, as we proclaim the good news of Jesus Christ to those who need to hear.
Come, let us speak plainly and boldly of the hope that is within us through Christ Jesus our Lord!

MONTHLY BOOK CLUB

Join the Monthly Book Club in May as they read and discuss The Cottage on Ghost Lane by Christy Barrett. After a tragic accident that took the life of his wife, veteran Cole Dalton moves into the beachside cottage to both heal and find closure. But on the first day he arrives, he finds an intruder searching for something. Mysterious incidents continue to occur, leading Cole to ask: Was his wife hiding something? As danger closes in and a storm lingers off the coast, Cole must find answers. If you are looking for a way to combine your love of reading and books with a small group atmosphere of fellowship, this is the place for you! SUMMER SUNDAY SCHOOL SCHEDULE
As we seek to help children & students live a life as a Jesus follower and be an active and vital part of the church, we hope to have everyone worshipping together. Our goal is for children, preteens, and teenagers to feel a part of the Sunday morning worship along with their church family. On the following days, there will be no Sunday school for children, junior high, or high school students: May 26, June 16, July 7, August 11, & September 1. We encourage your family to attend a service together and to talk about it after! Worship clipboards are available with activities relating to the sermon/scripture to help engage young minds.
DECORATING SETUP FOR VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL
It's almost time to transform Fishers UMC into an underwater adventure for Vacation Bible School and we would love your help to make it happen! Help hang backdrops, aquatic animals, seaweed and much more, anytime the following days: Tuesday, May 28th,1-5p, Thursday, May 30,1-5p, Monday, June 3,1-5p, Wednesday, June 5,1-5p.

United Women In Faith's Hope Circle is partnering with the Changing Footprints organization to collect previously worn and new shoes. These shoes will be distributed to homeless, disaster-stricken, and underprivileged people at home and abroad. Changing Footprints supplies shoes to over 100 Indiana Organizations that include places such as: Domestic Abuse Shelters, Children’s Services, Immigrant Resettlement, School Programs, and more! Bring shoes of any shape, size, color and condition to the bins located in Connection Central throughout the month of May. Worried about the condition of the shoe? Changing Footprints takes ALL shoes, if they are deemed too worn to wear, they will be sent to be recycled to use in things such as playground mulch.

OFFICE HELP NEEDED
The church office is looking for volunteers to help at the front desk. Duties include answering the phone, assisting with walk-ins, paper shredding, helping with mailings, and other light-duty tasks staff may need help with. We have openings for Monday afternoons, Tuesday afternoons, and Wednesday mornings. Most volunteers sign up to work weekly, but we are happy to have you once or twice a month if that works better with your schedule. Scuba Vacation Bible School takes kids deep into an amazing undersea adventure where they’ll experience the ever-flowing, never-ending love of God. Kids ages 4 to 4th grade will be immersed in the Word and discover what living water is really all about, all for free! Register by tapping the link.

Every Year Fishers UMC is able to host a free Vacation Bible School because of the generous donations from the congregation. This year we are planning on taking the kids on an Epic Underwater adventure where they will Dive into a friendship with God. FISHERS UMC HISTORICAL BOOK
Fishers United Methodist Church, originally known as Fishers Methodist Episcopal Church, was formed in 1874. In celebration and recognition of our rich history, Kim Arnott has written "Growing Together - History of Fishers United Methodist Church". Filled with images and details, this historical book takes an in depth look at our origins through present day. If you would like to purchase a book, they will be available in the Church Office during the week for $10.
INTERGENERATIONAL MISSION TRIP
Everyone over the age of 8 is invited to be a part of the Intergenerational Mission Trip travelling to St. Louis June 23rd through June 28th and serve in the city Monday-Thursday that week. The team will be housed at The River @ Eureka, a UMC in Eureka--a St. Louis suburb. Serving days will be from approximately 9am to 3/3:30pm with a packed lunch onsite. Our evenings will have some free time, dinner together, a few adventures, and an evening time of vespers. Cost is $200/person. The church & student ministries are covering part of the cost of the trip in an effort to bring the cost down and encourage greater participation. Please speak to Liz or one of the pastors about aid. TURN AWAY NO LONGER - SWAG PACKS
United Women in Faith have partnered with Turn Away No Longer, an Indiana nonprofit faith based organization. Turn Away No Longer’s mission is to positively impact the lives of children in the foster care system. They believe no child should feel “forgotten” or “unloved” and strive to show them the love of Jesus in every program they create. As part of this partnership, Fishers UMC has become a donation location to collect items for their Swag Packs. What are Swag Packs? When a child or teen enters foster care, they may not get the chance to pack up their belongings and often they have to leave home or school with nothing but the clothes they’re wearing. This is where Swag Packs can help. Each Swag Pack is age-specific, ranging from newborn to teens. Tap the link below to view their donation list for Swag Packs, all items must be NEW. Are you looking for a way to Be God's Light in 2024? You can honor or remember a loved one by sponsoring a flower bouquet on Sunday mornings! This is a great way to mark special life events such as birthdays, anniversaries, baptisms, confirmation, and the memory of a loved one. You can choose to take your bouquets home after the 11:00 service or bless someone else by having the bouquets delivered by United Women in Faith to persons in our congregation and community. We have two bouquets each Sunday (except for communion Sundays). The donation is $30 per bouquet. Sign up by tapping the link below.
